Management Science can be taught through theories, models, methods and frame works. Whereas, Art part of Managing is difficult to comprehend and synthesize as critical areas like decision making will change time to time, place to place and situation to situation,

It's difficult to teach human virtues like Guts , Intuition , Foresight , Ingenuity , Sixth Sense and they have to be developed over a period of time .


These 10 Skills given below sometimes have to be aquired or learnt through practice in the field and sometimes through mentoring / other ways.


1. Diplomatic Skills.


Diplomatic skills equip you to navigate conflicts and challenging conversations. Primary abilities that fall within the diplomatic skills set include empathy and compassion, emotional intelligence, conflict resolution and tact.


2. Political Skills.


What are political skills? Political skill is defined as: “The ability to effectively understand others at work, and to use such knowledge to influence others to act in ways that enhance one's personal and/or organizational objectives”


Based on the circumstances in the Organisations, One has to position himself or herself and manage the circumstances without getting victimised in the due course of work.



3. Situational Leadership and Maneuvering.


Situational Leadership Theory, or the Situational Leadership Model, is a model created by Paul Hersey and Ken Blanchard, developed while working on Management of Organizational Behavior. The theory was first introduced in 1969 as "life cycle theory of leadership "

First, how does accurate personality judgment happen? According to the Realistic Accuracy Model (RAM) ,accuracy in such judgments is achieved when relevant behavioral information is available to and detected by a judge who then utilizes that information correctly. Second, when are personality judgments accurate?




5. Intelligence Gathering.


An intelligence gathering network is a system through which information about a particular entity is collected for the benefit of another through the use of more than one, inter-related source. Such information may be gathered by a military intelligence, government intelligence, or commercial intelligence network

6. Soft Skills-Interpersonal.


Soft skills are a combination of people skills,social skills,communication skills,character or personality traits, attitudes, career attributes, social intelligence and emotional intelligence quotients, among others, that enable people to navigate their environment, work well with others, perform well, and achieve their goals with complementing hard skills.


7. Public Speaking Ability.


Public speaking is a soft skill that requires excellent communication skills, enthusiasm, and the ability to engage with an audience. Public speakers make presentations to a group. Presentations range from speaking to a small group of employees to presenting to a large audience at a national conference or event.


8. Being Inspirational to Others.

9. Effective Handling of Manipulation and Corruption.


Everyone uses ‘manipulation’, every time they open their mouths to speak to others. We cannot help but speak with an agenda, whether hidden or transparent. The word ‘manipulation’ is often used with a negative connotation, describing someone using persuasion tactics for their own benefit and to the detriment of others.

How to manage Manipulation ?


When in doubt, call it out. The single most effective way to manage manipulation is to bring it out of hiding. Just say ‘I think you’re trying to manipulate me because you are doing x, y and z’. It will be really hard for them to continue doing it after that!


You will know you are managing manipulation when they start trying different things, like moving from complimentary to intimidating. This means they are trying to find your weak points and not having much luck.


Eventually they will either walk away, or give in to your frame and play nice.


10. Forming Winning Combinations / Teams through



Permutations and Combinations.


People or things that work, perform, etc., very well together- Together in one team , they are a winning combination.

Conclusion


There is a good scope to substantiate above skills, but limited scope to deploy when , where and how, falls under individual purview and will change time to time, and situationally too..


This is why very successfully Business People inspite of their limited formal education, will do extrordinarily well by consciously deploying very human virtues like Guts , Intuition , Foresight , Ingenuity and Sixth Sense in different business situations and environments.


These skills can be attained out of experince and through observing the society, nature and experimental learning in Management Practice.
